St Michael’s has a fine, enthusiastic choir of adults and children. Children are welcome into the choir from the age of seven. They do not have to read music or play an instrument, but it does help if they can read.

The choristers work towards their Voice for Life ribbons. These are part of a training scheme under the auspices of the Royal School of Church Music, to which St Michael’s choir is affiliated.

Choir practice is at 6.30 on a Friday night. All newcomers are looked after very well by the older choristers who guide them through the service and lead them through the music.

“Bless O Lord, us thy servants who minister in thy temple. Grant that what we sing with our lips we may believe in our hearts, and that what we believe in our hearts we may show forth in our lives. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen”
