15 Minutes A Day With God

Do you manage to set aside (at least) 15 minutes a day to engage with God through reading the Bible and prayer? Imagine the difference it would make to your life if you did!

There’s a great handout you can download with suggestions and resources to help. It’s available online or you can pick up a printed copy from the back of St Michael’s.

Envoy – 18 weeks’ free evangelism coaching

Taster session online, 3 August

Would you like to learn how to make evangelism part of your everyday life, rather than something that’s reserved for special events? Would you like to discover what evangelism could look like for you in your own context? Would you like to do all this in a supportive community of other Christians who want to do the same? Envoy is is a free online course offered by Church Army. The course begins in October and lasts for either 18 weeks (October – March) or 24 weeks (October – May).

National Survivor Survey

The National Safeguarding Team launched a survey this week as part of its commitment to the development and implementation of a survivor engagement framework for the Church with victims and survivors.

The anonymous survey will run for two months from 19 July to 18 September 2022. It aims to listen to victims and survivors of any form of abuse, including those who have not engaged with the Church previously, about how they would like to be involved in developing and implementing the survivor engagement framework.

The survey is open to any victim or survivor who would like to engage with the Church to inform its work. Find more information and take part in the survey.

Fishing Rod Wanted

Do you have a fishing rod gathering dust in the shed or garage that you’d like to find a good home for? This week I was talking to someone seeking help at the Vicarage door and during our conversation they expressed a love of fishing. They can’t afford a rod, and it would be wonderful to bless them. If you can help please contact me at the Vicarage on 01865 863702, or at vicar@cumnor.org

Tower Roof Repairs

Work to replace the lead on the tower roof continues and is expected to last for another two weeks.

All the historic lead is to be preserved, with the most significant parts mounted in the tower itself for visitors to enjoy, and other sections sold to local people. Watch for more news on this in the next few weeks.

St Andrew’s Rebuilding and Reopening

The new church building for St Andrew’s Dean Court is nearly finished and the grand reopening is drawing close.

The official opening with Bishop Gavin is at 2pm on Saturday 10th September and then there is a special celebration service for the whole Parish on Sunday 11th September at 10:30am. All very much welcome! There will only be an 8am service at St Michael’s on that day.

Memories Café

Memories Café meets once a fortnight in Cumnor Cricket Club. Our next meeting is Tuesday 2nd August 2:30pm until 4pm.

It consists of a lively bunch who just like to chat, sharing memories, over a cup of tea and cake. We would love to see you. If you would like to know more please contact Jan Harris on 01865 864169.
