Now that the government’s restrictions have been lifted masks are no longer compulsory in church, but we still ask that you consider wearing them when singing, unless you are in the choir!
If you are feeling unwell or have tested positive then please stay at home.
Let’s keep protecting each other!
Helping Ukraine Refugees
💛💙 I know the ongoing crisis in the Ukraine continues to occupy all our thoughts and prayers. Many of you have also been asking for practical ways to help. There’s a local cake sale at the Old School on Saturday 12th March from 2pm-4pm, and also a Just Giving page where you can donate money online.
Finally, Millets Farm are now a donation point for any of the items listed below:
- Children’s toys including items such as soft toys, pencils, pens, colouring books etc
- Thermal clothing for children (not adults)
- First aid supplies (inc. plasters, bandages, antiseptic creams, etc)
- Pain relief (adult & child)
- Baby food, bottles & formula
- Nappies and wet wipes
- Blankets & towels
- Sleeping bags
- Toiletries (adult, child & baby)
- Plastic utensils and dinnerware
- Dried & tinned food
Please drop any donations from Monday 7th to 11th March at the potato door & ring the bell, located to the side of the Farm Shop. They’ve got local volunteer drivers who are taking a van/s to one of the aid distribution centres near the Polish Ukraine border. Their team of volunteer packers will be sorting and loading the van over the weekend of 12th/13th, to head off on 14th. 💛💙
David and Clare Wenham will be going to the Community Emergency Food Bank on Tuesday 8th March and could take donations of food. Please put them in the red box in St Michael’s on Sunday, or bring them to 66, Pinnocks Way before 10am on 8th.
Hymns and Cake at St Mary’s
Hymns and Cake’ is the new informal cafe type gathering on the fourth Sunday of every month at 3.30 pm St Mary’s Church Farmoor. We would very much welcome some help with refreshments etc on a regular or not so regular basis. For more info, please call Jean on 07927 236961.
Listen to Jean talking about it on Radio Oxford last week.
If you are looking for a Lent book this year I would recommend “Forgiven” by Tim Chester.
Here’s a brief extract from the blurb:
We live in uncertain times. Our society is changing rapidly and many of us feel left behind. How can we face the future with confidence?
In these resurrection meditations which go from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, Tim Chester reassures our fearful hearts by pointing us to the Lord Jesus and his finished work. Guiding us through the later chapters of Hebrews, these devotions remind us that, when everything around us is turning and churning, we can rest secure in Jesus and his forgiveness, the only anchor for our weary souls.
The next Taizé service will be held in St Michael’s this Sunday 6th March, again at the earlier time of 4:30pm.
The songs and readings for this month are available online at: https://cumnor.org/taize-service-march-2022/

whose Son Jesus Christ fasted forty days in the wilderness,
and was tempted as we are, yet without sin:
give us grace to discipline ourselves in obedience to your Spirit;
and, as you know our weakness,
so may we know your power to save;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
A Prayer for Peace in Ukraine
God of compassion,
Have mercy this day on the people of Ukraine.
Restore to them the gift of peace.
Grant wisdom to the governments of the world.

For the sake of Jesus Christ your Son,
Who gave his life to bring peace to your world
