Now that we are permitted to meet for worship again, we will be holding our first service after lockdown in St Michael’s on Sunday 5th July, at 10:30am. It really will be wonderful to gather for worship and renewed fellowship after so many weeks apart.
The service will be Morning Worship and all the words will be projected on the screen as we can’t use service books, hymn books or Bibles although we are allowed to bring a Bible from home. We will be using elements of the online service in church via the new AV system.
Following Government guidance, we are not permitted to sing and have to keep things short, so the service will last about 35 minutes, and we cannot yet serve refreshments or hold long conversations at the door afterwards. We have had to reduce our capacity to 40 people, and people from different households will need to observe 2m social distancing. We will also need to maintain good hand hygiene at all times. The porch toilet will be available. All the pews are now open so there will be lots of room available to space out well. Please don’t sit directly behind someone else or lean over the pews to talk. The doors will be open during the service to improve ventilation. There is no requirement to wear a face covering but you may do so if you wish.
I know that many of you continue to be shielding or have family members who are vulnerable or may be hesitant about returning to public worship, so we’re continuing to produce our weekly online service. We will ensure they are as similar as possible so that you will not miss out if you are unable to join us yet.
The service will continue to be available each week by Telephone on 01865 920993.
The service on Sunday 12th July at 10:30am will be Holy Communion. More details on how this will work in next week’s email newsletter.
