in aid of St Michaels Church Improvement Project: Edward Impey will give an illustrated talk Cumnor and its church; people, parish and buildings 968 to 2017. Edward Impey is an historian and archaeologist, formerly Director of Heritage Protection and Planning at English Heritage and now Director-General of the Royal Armouries Museum, who was brought up in Cumnor and has spent many years studying the history and historic buildings of the parish. He will sketch out the origins and history of the parish and manor of Cumnor, the history of St Michaels and related buildings, and explore the institutions, customs and people that have affected the daily and religious lives of villagers and their environment from the 10th century to today.
