Jonathan Widdess

Jonathan grew up in High Wycombe, and trained for ministry at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. 
Previously he was Priest in charge of Bargoed and Deri with Brithdir  in the Rhymney Valley, South Wales and before that he was Assistant Curate at St Mark’s Church, Gabalfa, Cardiff. Before ordination, Jonathan worked for 11 years in the IT industry initially in IT support, and later both developing and managing software development.  Jonathan is married to Amanda, and has two children: Elizabeth and Benji. They have a Romanian rescue dog called Phoenix.

I was born in the Radcliffe Infirmary,  grew up in Durham and Bristol,  went to university in Cambridge and Manchester,  taught New Testament studies in India, Oxford and Bristol, and am now retired.  I am married to Clare,  we live in Pinnocks Way in Dean Court, and enjoy being part of St Andrew’s. We have two married sons, six grandchildren…. and a small dog!

Chris Sugden

Canon Dr Chris Sugden (St Peter’s Oxford, 1966-72) is married to Elaine a retired cancer doctor, and they have three married children and nine grandchildren.  After training under Michael Green and George Carey at St John’s Nottingham, a curacy at St George’s Leeds and work in BBC Radio Leeds, Chris spent six years in theological education and development work in India.
He was part of the international team with Canon Vinay Samuel that established the Oxford Centre for Mission Studies in 1983 which has graduated 160 doctorates from around the world. He is currently the Programme Leader of the Ph D Programme of the Oxford Centre for Religion and Public Life.
He was conference secretary of the first Global Anglican Future Conference in Jerusalem in 2008.  He is a member of the UK Forum on Freedom of Religion and Belief and its working group on Nigeria. He was one time chairman of Traidcraft and a member of General Synod, and now chairman of Anglican Mainstream, secretary of his local Patients Participation Group and convenor of the Hinksey and Osney Environment Group addressing the Flood Alleviation Scheme for Oxford. He holds canonries in Sunyani, Ghana and Jos, Northern Nigeria. Likes: Morris Minors, Saabs, Poirot and Miss Marple, and Morecambe and Wise.

Eve Lockett

Licensed Lay Minister

Eve Lockett studied English and Fine Art at Exeter University, and retains a love of visual art and the use of words. She was admitted as a Reader in 1997 in the Rochester Diocese. She has worked with missionary societies in their promotions departments, organising events and producing a range of material to inform and inspire their supporters.
Eve has written three books for Barnabas, the children’s imprint of Bible Reading Fellowship. She has a diploma in Biblical and Theological Studies from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.

Chris Scruby

Chris grew up in Norfolk and studied at Cambridge before working in a CMS missionary school in Uganda. He then had a long career in science and engineering, working at Harwell, Culham, Oxford and Imperial College, where he led a large national centre for research and doctoral training.  He and Margaret moved to the area in 1986, where their four children grew up.  Chris started Bible teaching and preaching in the late 1960s, joining the Cumnor ministry team in 2009.
