Jonathan Widdess

Vicar

Jonathan was born in High Wycombe, and trained for ministry at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. 
Previously he was Priest in charge of Bargoed and Deri with Brithdir  in the Rhymney Valley, South Wales and before that he was Assistant Curate at St Mark’s Church, Gabalfa, Cardiff. Before ordination, Jonathan worked for 11 years in the IT industry initially in IT support, and later both developing and managing software development.  Jonathan is married to Amanda, and has two children: Elizabeth and Benji.

Sarah Evans

Parish Administrator

Sarah was born and grew up in Maidenhead. With her husband, Phil, and two children, Jacob and Becky, they moved to Oxfordshire where she has held several secretarial / administration roles in various locations around Oxford including working for the Oxford Diocese. She took up the role of Parish Administrator over 4 years ago and thoroughly enjoys her time in the office, especially spending time with the parishioners and ministers in Cumnor!

Helen Azer

Associate Minister

Helen was born in England but grew up in Egypt where she lived for the first sixteen years of her life. On a year abroad in Germany for her university degree course studying the history of the Reformation, Helen felt God’s call to full-time Christian ministry.  She trained at Wycliffe Hall theological college, Oxford, and was ordained in 2004.  Helen is called especially to train and equip the Church and desires to enable Christians to become radical lovers of Jesus who are informed, articulate and confident communicators of their faith.
Helen is the UK Director of Heartcry for Change and has been part of the itinerant ministry team for over ten years. She also volunteers her time as a self-supporting ordained minister in Cumnor Parish, Oxford.  Helen loves to read, travel and drink (good!) coffee while people watching!  She is the co-author of Release My Frozen Assets: a look at the role of women in the church published by Heartcry for Change.

David Wenham

Associate Minister

I was born in the Radcliffe Infirmary,  grew up in Durham and Bristol,  went to university in Cambridge and Manchester,  taught New Testament studies in India, Oxford and Bristol, and am now retired.  I am married to Clare,  we live in Pinnocks Way in Dean Court, and enjoy being part of St Andrew’s. We have two married sons, six grandchildren…. and a small dog!  

Jean Pryce-Williams

Associate Minister

Jean was born in Hereford, and studied for her degree in ministry at Ripon College Cuddesdon. She has served in Cumnor Parish since ordination 10 years ago and before that as Pastoral Care Coordinator for 17 years. Jean is an ex nurse, osteopath and paramedic tutor, a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist, artist, stress management consultant and spiritual director. She trained as a retreat leader and for some years worked alongside Bishop Graham Chadwick and priest/author Fr Gerard W Hughes SJ on their individually guided retreat team.,

Eve Lockett

Licensed Lay Minister

Eve Lockett studied English and Fine Art at Exeter University, and retains a love of visual art and the use of words. She was admitted as a Reader in 1997 in the Rochester Diocese. She has worked with missionary societies in their promotions departments, organising events and producing a range of material to inform and inspire their supporters.
Eve has written three books for Barnabas, the children’s imprint of Bible Reading Fellowship. She has a diploma in Biblical and Theological Studies from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford.

Chris Scruby

Authorised Preacher

Chris grew up in Norfolk and studied at Cambridge before working in a CMS missionary school in Uganda. He then had a long career in science and engineering, working at Harwell, Culham, Oxford and Imperial College, where he led a large national centre for research and doctoral training.  He and Margaret moved to the area in 1986, where their four children grew up.  Chris started Bible teaching and preaching in the late 1960s, joining the Cumnor ministry team in 2009.
