This Sunday @ St Michael’s

10:30am

Join us at 10:30am on Sunday morning in St Michael’s for Big Story Sunday. Jonathan will be leading as we explore the Parable of the Hidden Treasure from Matthew 13:44-46 through songs, stories and prayers.

This Sunday @ St Andrew’s

10am

Join us at 10am in St Andrew’s for Morning Worship. David Wenham will be leading and preaching on “Freedom in Christ” from Galatians 4:21-31.

Following the service will be an informal congregational meeting about the rebuilding plans.

After all this there is a picnic – please bring your own food and drink!

Online worship during August

The live-streaming of our Sunday Service is taking a break in August to give our Tech team a well deserved and much needed rest.

If you want to join a service online you can dip into our archive
or, alternatively, join the online service from the Church of England
or one from our own Diocese of Oxford.

There is also a new Online Taizé Service available, and the latest in David Lockett’s Faith and Art series, details of these are below.

Our live-streaming worship will resume in September.

Collect

Collect for Tenth Sunday after Trinity

Almighty and everlasting God,
you are always more ready to hear than we to pray
and to give more than either we desire or deserve:
pour down upon us the abundance of your mercy,
forgiving us those things of which our conscience is afraid
and giving us those good things which we are not worthy to ask
but through the merits and mediation of Jesus Christ
your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Parish Office News

After 5 years with the Parish, I’m sorry to say that Sarah Evans is leaving her role as Administrator. She finishes at the end of August, but is on leave from 19th as she uses up remaining holiday. I’d like to say a big “Thank-You” to Sarah for the excellent job she has done in her time with us. Her cheerful, efficient and reassuring presence in the office will be sorely missed and she leaves big shoes to fill.

I hope that we will be able to advertise the vacancy soon.

In the meantime, both the Parish Office answerphone and email will be checked regularly, and if you have an urgent need then please contact Jonathan at the Vicarage, or by phone on 01865 863702. You can also reach him by email at vicar@cumnor.org

Taizé Service

The online Taizé service for August is still available. With readings, prayers and meditative sung worship, it’s the perfect way to find some peace and space in the stresses and strains of life.
