The service will remain available to watch online afterwards.

We’re so sorry for the loss of sound on last week’s livestream. The engineers have been on site today and are confident that the issue has now been resolved.

Collect for the Second Sunday before Advent

Heavenly Father,
whose blessed Son was revealed
to destroy the works of the devil
and to make us the children of God and heirs of eternal life:
grant that we, having this hope,
may purify ourselves even as he is pure;
that when he shall appear in power and great glory
we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom;
where he is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Reading for Sunday

Mark 13:1-8

The Destruction of the Temple and Signs of the End Times

13:1 As Jesus was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!”

2 “Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”

3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, 4 “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?”

5 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.

Bible Club at Matthew Arnold

Volunteers still needed.

Prior to lockdown we were running a successful and growing Bible Club in Matthew Arnold School. The school are keen to have us back, and I want to build a team to restart it as soon as possible.

Would you be able to spare about an 1 hour on a Wednesday lunchtime during term-time to help teenagers learn about the Christian Faith?

Please pray about it and get in touch if you think this might be something for you.
