Collect for the Third Sunday before Advent

Almighty Father,
whose will is to restore all things
in your beloved Son, the King of all:
govern the hearts and minds of those in authority,
and bring the families of the nations,
divided and torn apart by the ravages of sin,
to be subject to his just and gentle rule;
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Mark 1:14-20

Jesus Announces the Good News

14 After John was put in prison, Jesus went into Galilee, proclaiming the good news of God. 15 “The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the good news!”

Jesus Calls His First Disciples

16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.

19 When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. 20 Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.

Taizé Service November 7th at 6.30pm.

The Taizé team, including harpist Anna Lockett and Cantor Voirrey Carr, is delighted to announce we will be holding our first ‘live’ service at 6.30pm on Sunday 7th November, at St Michael’s. Everyone is welcome to come along to enjoy 45 minutes of simple worship, with beautiful music and song. As this is the week of the feasts of All Souls and All Saints, you may like to come and light a candle in memory of those who have returned to the Lord and entered eternal life.

To keep us all safe, we will encourage social distancing and the wearing of masks. We look forward to welcoming newcomers and to seeing our former regulars!

There is also an online version of this service available at: [Taizé Service https://cumnor.org/taize-service-november-2021/
