The Calling of the Disciples

As I enter into prayer today, I rest for a moment in the confidence that – whatever may seem wrong with the world, or with me, or with my life – God’s love redeems it all.

The Lord has visited his people and redeemed them.

Song – 2 Wait for the Lord, whose day is near,

Wait for the Lord, Keep watch, Take heart.

Song 53 – Donna la Pace Signore

Give peace Lord, to those who trust in you

Dona la Pace Signore, a chi confida in te

Dona la Pace Signore, dona la pace.

Prayer

God of goodness, you encourage us to rely on the faith of Abraham and of all the believers who have gone before us. May your love give us the courage to leave our securities behind, in the confidence that your Holy Spirit is guiding us step by step.

Psalm 91

1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High

    will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

2  I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,

    my God, in whom I trust.”

3  Surely he will save you

    from the fowler’s snare

    and from the deadly pestilence.

4  He will cover you with his feathers,

    and under his wings you will find refuge;

    his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

5  You will not fear the terror of night,

    nor the arrow that flies by day,

6  nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,

    nor the plague that destroys at midday.

7  A thousand may fall at your side,

    ten thousand at your right hand,

    but it will not come near you.

8  You will only observe with your eyes

    and see the punishment of the wicked.

9  If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”

    and you make the Most High your dwelling,

10  no harm will overtake you,

    no disaster will come near your tent.

11  For he will command his angels concerning you

    to guard you in all your ways;

12  they will lift you up in their hands,

    so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.

13  You will tread on the lion and the cobra;

    you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

14  “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;

    I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.

15  He will call on me, and I will answer him;

    I will be with him in trouble,

    I will deliver him and honour him.

16  With long life I will satisfy him

    and show him my salvation

Song 50 – Nada te turbe

Nothing can trouble, nothing can frighten.

Those who seek God, shall never go wanting.

Nothing can trouble, nothing can frighten,

God alone fills us.

Nada te turbe, nada te espante

quien a Dios tiene nada le falta

Nada te turbe, nada te espante

sólo Dios basta

The Gospel

Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Do not be afraid; from now on it is people you will be catching.” Then, bringing their boats back to land, Simon and his companions left everything and followed him.

Luke 5:1-11

Song 120 – Kristus, din Ande

Jesus, your spirit in us, is a wellspring of life everlasting.

Kristus, din Ande i oss är en källa med porlande vaten

When in Prayer,
Human language cannot express well what we have deep within ourselves
We do not worry.
In a prayer made of silence only
We rest in God
With the body
With the soul
With the spirit.

Silence

Song 32 – Mon âme se repose

In God alone my soul can find rest and peace,

In God, my peace and joy.

Only in God, my soul can find its rest,

Find it’s rest and peace.

Mon âme se repose en paix sur Dieu seul

de lui vient mon salut

Oui, sur Dieu seul mon âme se repose

Se repose en Paix

Intercessions

God our Father, we bless you for having called us to know you, to love you, and to live with you.

— Maranatha, the Lord is coming.

You sent your beloved Son, your perfect image and the reflection of your face; He became like us in all things except sin,

— Maranatha, the Lord is coming

In Him you proclaimed the good news of your kingdom;

You forgive our offences and heal our wounds

— Maranatha, the Lord is coming

Keep us in communion with your Son; keep us alert as we wait for the day of his coming.

— Maranatha, the Lord is coming

Give us your peace, so that we can communicate it to one another in mutual love, and serve the human family

— Maranatha, the Lord is coming

We say together — The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come, your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us. Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom,
the power, and the glory

are yours now and for ever.
Amen.

Song 23. Laudate omnes gentes

Sing praises all you peoples

Sing praises to the Lord

Laudate omnes gentes

Laudate Dominium

In the Lord I’ll be ever thankful, in the Lord I will rejoice,

Look to God, do not be afraid,

Lift up your voices, the Lord is near,

lift up your voices the Lord is near

Let us finish by saying the Blessing together.
