Sadly, our hopes to gather again for Taizé worship in St Michael’s church have had to remain on hold.

Therefore, until November 2021, we will continue to make our Taizé services available online, so that people can participate in a Taizé style reflection, with its key elements (Bible reading, psalm, songs and silence).

We hope you enjoy the songs and video clips we have complied for September. You are welcome to access them any time. You might also like to join in with the daily service of worship which is live-streamed each day from Burgundy in France.

You might also like to join in with the weekly Saturday, evening prayer which is livestreamed directly from Taizé at 8.30pm (CEST | UTC+2) on the Taizé social media networks. The link will be published on the Taizé website afterwards.

Sunday 5th September 2021 (Updated on 6th September 2021)

“Since my youth, I think that I have never lost the intuition that community life could be a sign that God is love, and love alone. Gradually the conviction took shape in me that it was essential to create a community with men/people determined to give their whole life and who would always try to understand one another and be reconciled, a community where kindness of heart and simplicity would be at the centre of everything.”

Brother Roger, founder of Taizé: God is love alone

Song- I am sure I shall see the goodness of the Lord

Song 18 Confitemino Domino

Old Testament Reading

“The person who trusts in God is like a tree planted by the water: in a year of drought it is untroubled and never ceases to bear fruit.”

Jeremiah 17:5-8

Song – Jesus le Christ

Lord Jesus, your light shines within us.
Let not my doubts or my darkness speak to me.
Lord Jesus, your light shines within us.
Let my heart always welcome your love.

New Testament reading

“Jesus took the man who was deaf and could hardly speak aside, away from the crowd. With a deep sigh, he said, “Ephphatha,” that is, “Be opened!” At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he spoke clearly.”

Mark 7:31-37

Silence

Song – O Lord hear my prayer

Prayers

Eternal God, you love all that exists. We would like your goodness to overflow into our lives in compassion for others.

Christ Jesus, you always welcome us, even if our faith is very small. You invite us to put into practice the little bit that we have understood of your Gospel. And you assure us: the Holy Spirit dwells in our hearts, and will lead us forward.

Holy Spirit, deep within us you kindle God’s joy. You are our strength and our consolation. Trusting in your presence enables us to cast our worries onto God. Holy Spirit, help us to hold one another- our friends, family and ourselves- in prayer…

Make each one of us fruitful, so we can grow in your love, be strong in our trust in you, know your peace, and always look towards the light of your glory.

We pray these prayers in the name of the risen Lord Jesus. Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Blessing

Jesus, peace of our hearts,
in our nights as in our days,
in the hours of darkness as in those of bright light,
you knock at our doors and await a response.
Open our hearts and ears to your love
and bless each one of us and those we love.

The Grace

May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
and the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit…
be with us all now and evermore.
Amen

Song – Laudate Omnes Gentes
